Abstract
The plan to develop small towns has been proposed by the government since 1990s.The major goal is to accomplish the urbanization by moving rural residents from countryside to small towns that are not far away from their hometowns.The paper reviews all the relevant researches,and implements a case investigation in Meizhu town.By interviewing the local residents and observing this town,the problems that happened during the development of this typical small town in the middle area of China are analyzed.In the end,some deficiencies are revealed and some countermeasures are proposed for the small town development.
