Clinical study of radiotherapy concurrent chemotherapy in the treatment of patients with esophageal cancer

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of radiotherapy concurrent chemotherapy in the treatment of esophageal cancer.Methods We retrospectively analyzed 55 patients with esophageal squamous cell cancer who received radiotherapy concurrent chemotherapy.And 162 patients who received radiotherapy only as control group.Results The survival rate of 1,3,5 years of the radiotherapy group and the radiotherapy concurrent chemotherapy group were 83.3%、55.7%、36.2% and 92.0%、73.8%、53.5% respectively.The median overall survival time(OS) was 45 months and 87 months respectively.The difference between the two groups was significant.Conclusions Radiotherapy concurrent chemotherapy can improve the survival time of patients with esophageal cancer.
