Abstract
Aim:To investigate changes on sperm motility after freezing-thawing and the relationship between sperm fracture and cryopreservation. Methods: Human semen samples were cryopreserved by one-step method as well as multiple-step method. Sperm morphology wet preparation was used to eva- luate sperm motility and the sperm fracture rate. Results: Post-thawing sperm motility was significantly lower than that before (P0 01), whereas difference between sperm fracture rates was not seen (P0 05). Besides, there were no statistic differences (P0 05) in sperm motility and fracture rate between one-step and multiple-step freezing methods. Conclusion: Cryopreservation induces the descent of sperm motility and leads to abnormal sperm characteristic which doesn't conspicuously result in the increase of incidence of sperm fracture.
