Abstract
A high performance concrete made by metakaolin and silica fume mixed respectively with fly ash and slag was studied ,and the feasibility of metakaolin replacing silica fume as the mixing material of active mineral was explored by analyzing the mechanical properties, durability and microstructures of the testing samples. At the same time, the performance of metakaolin and the effect of adding metakaolin in high performance concrete were investigated systematically. The results show that the metakaolin made by heat treating of 700—800 ℃ has low degree of crystallization and high hydrating activity. The concrete compounded by the metakaolin has good mechanical properties and durability.
