Abstract
Objective To investigate the Internet game addiction and its demographic and behavior characteristics of Guangzhou middle school students. Methods Totally 1 334 Guangzhou middle school students were surveyed with questionnaires about Internet Game Addiction. Results Of the middle school students tested,3.2% were diagnosed Internet game addiction. Between online game addicts and non-addicts,there were significant discrepancies in gender,educational background of father and family economics. There were distinctions in game types and aggressiveness of game between addicts and non-addicts. Besides,the ratio of internet game addictions existed differences in game behavior. The addicts had their own demographic characteristics and game behavior features in contrast to the normal middle students. Conclusion Intervention measures should be adopted according to the characteristics of Internet game addiction among middle school students
