Abstract

Test point strata and inference are two important considerations in designing English cloze tests. Based on the data and analysis of an experiment, the paper makes a detailed study of the effects of these two factors on difficulty level, discrimination and validity, in order to establish an advisable and scientific way of designing English cloze tests.
