Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of CXCR4 and MMP-13 in the laryngeal squamous carcinoma. Methods The expression of CXCR4 and MMP-13 in fresh laryngeal squamous carcinoma tissues and adjacent normal tissues were examined by immunohistochemical staining and RT-PCR.Results The positive expression rate of CXCR4 and MMP-13 in tumor samples was significantly higher than that in normal ones;In tumor samples, the expression of CXCR4 were not associated with age and sex(P 0.05),while it were higher in clinical stage, depth of invasion and lymph node metastasis(P 0.05).Over-expression of MMP-13 was significantly correlated with depth of invasion and lymph node metastasis(P 0.05).The expression of protein and mRNA were at the same level. The expression level of CXCR4 and MMP-13 in the laryngeal squamous carcinoma tissue positively correlated. Conclusion CXCR4 and MMP-13 may be involved in the laryngeal squamous carcinoma, and may play an important role in the invasion and metastasis of laryngeal squamous carcinoma.CXCR4 and MMP-13 play a cooperative role in the process of laryngeal squamous carcinoma.
