Abstract

Currently the wind sensor commonly used can only monitor the wind speed at one point, not the average wind speed at a cross-section.In order to overcome this problem, this paper investigates the wind speed distribution at a round section using the methods of laboratory test and numerical analysis.Based on the measured wind speeds at 18 points in the perpendicular bisector of a section, the correction coefficients for calculating average wind speed at the section using the wind speed at one point have been obtained. The study shows that a more accurate average wind speed at a cross-section can be obtained by using wind speed calibration coefficients. The study provides a technical mean for wind sensor calibration.
