Abstract
The structural analysis of steel frame is a fundamental problem in the design of steel structural which should take the second order effects into account. Now many countries have brought the second order effects into their steel structural specifications. There are many differences in the calculation and analysis of second order effects between the Chinese Code for Design of Steel Structure(GB 50017—2003) and the American steel structural specification(ANSI/AISC 360—05 An American National Standard Specification for Structural Steel Buildings). The calculation and analysis methods and specific coefficients between the two design specifications are compared.
