A Survey on Wetland Vegetation Resources in Zhangye City

In order to understand the wetland vegetation resources in the Heihe river basin,a survey on wetland vegetation resources in northern suburb of Zhangye city was conducted from June 2005 to December 2006 using interviews combined with on-site investigations.Results showed that:among the floristic elements,those seed plants with global distribution and northern temperate distribution are predominant;Plants cover 195 species,124 genera and 45 families.Vegetation types were mainly swamp meadow and shrub vegetation.Seasonal landscape characteristics were evident.Wetland habitat deterioration caused by human disturbance has led to reverse succession from hygrophyte to xerophytes,meanwhile the severe wetland pollution has caused changes of plant community structure in a reverse direction.Suggestions were provided to strengthen protection and restoration of the wetland ecosystem in the northern suburb of Zhangye city.
