“Xing,Ying and Shen” and Tao Yuanming s Suite of Poems

In the eyes of common people,there implies an abstruse occultism in Tao Yuanmings poetry,which is characterized with three kinds of narration.One is to explain the abstruse principles by describing characters activities in natural scenery.Another is to express an analogy of the natural world to profound theories.The third is to state frankly what such theories indicate.In his suite of the poem “Xing,Ying and Shen”,Tao Yuanming holds that Ying is a reflection of Xing.He disagrees with Guo Xiangs thinking of “emergence of oneself,running ones own coursed independence of oneself”.He believes that,in a poem,the elaboration of abstruse principles counts on the natural scenery and humanity environment.This is the very reform of Tao Yuanming in his poetry characterized with profound theories.
