The Relationship Between Cutaneous Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and Epstein-Barr Virus Infection in Childhood

Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between cutaneous non-hodgkin's lymphoma and epstein-barr virus infection in childhood .Methods The samples of 36 patients with cutaneous NHL were used to detect the EBV-encoded RNA (EBER) by in situ hybridization (ISH).Results Seven of 36 (19.4%) samples showed positive signals including five of thirteen subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL);one of four unspecified peripheral T-cell lymphoma;one of two Burkitt's lymphoma;none of lymphoblastic lymphoma and CD30+ cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma was positive.Conclusion EBV infection might be related to SPTCL and might not be related to lymphoblastic lymphoma and CD30+ cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma, the role of EBV in the pathogenesis of Burkitt's lymphoma needs further investigation .
