The repair of ectropion palpebrarum by free grafting of the complex tissue graft of eyelid

Objective To study the result of repairing ectropion palpebrarum with the free grafting of complex tissue graft of eyelid. Methods 10 patients with 0-Ⅱlevel ectropion palpebrarum caused by various diseases were treated by complex tissue graft of skin and orbicularis muscle. The complex tissue graft of eyelid was harvested at donor eyelid. After the everted eyelid was released to normal location, and the graft was implanted to repair the defect of the affected eyelid. The pressure dressing of a cosmolin gauze roll was used on the graft. Results Ectropion palperabrum of nine patients were corrected successfully except for one Ⅱlevel ectropion palpebrarum which was improved to 0 level. There was no recurrence in all cases after 3～12 months follow-up. The color and texture of complex tissue graft is same to the skin around the graft and the donor eyelid takes on good double eyelid appearance. Conclusion The free grafting of complex tissue graft of eyelid is a good alternative to repair 0-Ⅱlevel ectropion palpebrarum caused by various of diseases.
