Screening of Highly Pathogenic Strains of Beauveria bassiana Against Ostrinia Furnacalis Guenee

Abstract
In order to screen pathogenic strains of Beauveria bassiana,sporogenous high ability,vegetative growth,spore germination rate and pathogenicity of seven Beauveria bassiana strains were assayed.The results showed that different strains showed an obvious difference in sporulation,vegetative growth,spore germination rate and pathogenicity for 3rd instar larvae of the corn borer.Among those 7 strains,the strain BC6 was recognized as a good candidate strain for its high sporogenous ability(18.35×107/cm2) on PDA medium,high germination rate(96.59%) in 14 h,fast vegetative growth(2.722 mm/d) and high mortality rate(90%),which was higher than those of the CK strains with significant difference.BC6 strains with factory production potential and practical application value.
