Abstract
Mobile communication is a developing hot point and it has gone through the developing phases such as the first generation, the second generation and the 2.5 generation. The third generation mobile communication system is going into markets with mature technologies. Discussions on technical features of various generations of communication systems are carried out in the paper. The mainstream techniques in the third generation of mobile communicationvarious kind of code division multiple access are analyzed and compared in detail. The development and techniques route of the third generation of mobile communication has been proposed suitable to Chinese condition.
