Abstract
Chang 6 reservoir of the Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation is one of the main oil-bearing members of Fuhuang exploration area in Ordos Basin.However,it is not clear whether the south or northeast is the main provenance.This paper makes a comprehensive research on the provenance by many methods such as the analysis of rocks and minerals,light mineral analysis,sandstone grain-size analysis and geochemistry of trace element analysis.The results indicate that Chang 6 reservoir is mainly controlled by northeast sediment source region,whose parent rocks are mainly metamorphic rock of Archean and Early Proterozoic from northeast margin and that there is neither south or east provenance system in the area.
