Evaluations of the Yak Performance in the South Area of Qinghai Provice

On the comprehensive evaluation of yak, milk production, growth and development of yak cows with or without a calf, growth and development and beef production at birth and 1 year old in south area of Qinghai, it was proved that introduction of wild blood bull yak to mate with local domestic yak cows was a simple measure to recover local domestic yak under present animal husbandry policy. Our results would supply a theoretic base for crossbreeding and improvement, breeding and selection of yak and government decision.
