The Protective Effect of Losartan in Adriamycin Induced Nephropathy in Rats

Abstract

[Objective]To investigate the effect of Losartan in adriamycin-induced nephropathy in rats.[Methods]Experimental nephrotic syndrome model of unilateral nephrectomized Wistar rats were induced with one intravenous adriamycin injection(5 mg/kg).Thirty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups: normal control;nephrotic control,Losartan-treated groups(40 mg/kg.d).Serum,urine and renal tissue were collected from the rats in 3 groups and tested 8 weeks later.[Results]The urine protein,β2-minute globulin,blood creatinine,urea nitrogen in Losartan treated group were significant less than that in nephrotic control group.TGF-β1 and type IV collagen expression was lowered in Different extent.[Conclusion]Losartan can reduce kidney lesions in adriamycin-induced nephropathy in rats.
