Value of a new method of fetal abdomen circumfence for ultrasound estimation of fetal weight

Objective To evaluate the accuracy of the new method of measurement of fetal abdomen circumference for ultrasound estimation of fetal weight. Methods Two hundred and twenty-six patients with a healthy singleton pregnancy in whom fetal biparietal diameter, head circumference, femur length were measured in the same way, and the fetal abdomen circumference were measured twice in two different ways, the fetal weight was estimated with two ways seperately. The two estimations of fetal weight and the birth weight were compared. Results There was no significant difference between the two methods of measurement of fetal abdomen circumference for estimation of fetal weight,and so was the two measurements of fetal abdomen circumference. Conclusion Which measurement of abdomen circumference should be taken for estimation of fetal weight depends on the conditions.
