Abstract
Nanometer Al2O3 ceramic coatings were prepared on the surface of MB2 magnesium alloy using thermal chemical reaction method so as to improve the climate adaptability. The phase structure of the resulting ceramic coatings was examined by means of X-ray diffraction, while the wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and thermal shock resistance of the coatings were investigated as well. Results indicated that new phases such as MgMnSiO4,Al2SiO5,Mg2SiO4 and ZnAl2O4 were found in coatings, and the coatings had excellent thermal shock resistance.Besides, the ceramic coatings showed much better corrosion resistance and wear resistance than the Mg alloy substrate, and they had significantly improved acid resistance after being sealed with epoxy resin lacquer.
