Abstract
Purpose:To assess the diagnostic value of multi-slice spiral CT urography(MSCTU) in urologic disease. Methods:CT plain scan, renal dual phase enhanced scan and urography were performed in 64 cases complained with renal colic or hematuria respectively. The data of CT scan were transmitted to the workstation, where the reconstructed images of the urinary system were obtaind by means of maximam-intensity-projection (MIP), multi-plannar reconstruction (MPR) and volume-rendering reconstruction. Results:In the 64 cases, the pelvis and bldder were clearly displayed in each case (100%), the ureters were completely displayed in 110 sides (86%). Urinary stones were found in 16 cases (25%), and non-stone lesions in the othe 48 cases (75%), it was involved in 6 cases of stricture of ureter, 5 cases of obstruction of pyeloureteral junction, 4 cases of duplication of ureter and pelvis, 6 cases of renal neoplasm, 14 cases of bladder cancer, 2 cases of ureter neoplasm, 2 cases of ectopia ureteral orifice, 2 cases of renal tuberculosis, 3 cases of hydronephrosis resulted from Hyperplasia of prostate, and the other neurogenic bladder, blood clot of ureter, retrocaval ureter, ureteral fistula respectively. Conclusions:MSCTU has an unique advantage in the diagnosis of urinary system diseases such as neoplasm, stone and other obstruction of the upper urinary tract for its high spatial resolution and the high quality of the three-demensional reconstructions.
