Abstract

Objective To retrospectively analyze hepatic cystic echinococcosis patients with respect of diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Methods Altogether 86 patients were examined with abdominal color Doppler ultrasound and were all revealed liver cystic mass.Diagnosis was made concerning aspects of epidemic history and parasite test. Results Of the 86 cases,76 patients underwent routine operation of excision of internal capsule, and another 10 cases of liver resection with cystic cavity.None of the patients underwent allergic shock. Albendazole were used 2 weeks before and after the operation, with a dosage of 15-30 mg/(kg·d)-1.After a course of 6-12 months, the patients were all cured, with no relapse. Conclusion Operation treatment can be adopted as the first choice for hepatic cystic echinococcosis, and could attain better effectiveness if combined with albendazole.
