Abstract

Objective To observe the early changes of CT perfusion parameters after alcohol intervention in hepatic VX2 tumor on rabbits. Methods Twenty Japanese white rabbits were divided into two groups randomly (each n=10). All rabbits were implanted VX2 tumor tissue into livers to establish tumor models. CT perfusion parameters (blood flow ,blood volume [BV],mean transit time [MTT],permeability surface [PS],hepatic arterial fraction [HAF],hepatic arterial perfusion [HAP]) were acquired in group 1 with CT perfusion imaging. Rabbits in group 2 were treated with alcohol intervention two weeks after establishment of models, and the changes of CT perfusion parameters in continuously two months were observed. Statistical repeated measurement,ANOVA analysis and correlation analysis were performed. Results Positivecor relation was found between the values of HBF,PS,HAP,HAF and microvessel density (MVD) (all P0.05),but not between the values of MTT,HBV and MVD. PS and HAP increased significantly compared with pretreatment in the border of tumor regions 3 days after alcohol intervention (all P0.01). Four weeks after therapy, the edge of tumor showed lower HBF,HBV,PS,HAF and HAP compared with those pretreatment and 3 days after treatment (all P0.01). There significantly increased in HBF,HBV,PS,HAF and HAP values between 6 weeks and 4 weeks after treatment. HBF,HBV,PS and HAP increased in 8 weeks compared with those in 6 weeks (all P0.05). Conclusion CT perfusion imaging can not only show the changes of hemodynamics of VX2 tumors, but also provide meticulous dissection image. Quantitative analysis and semi-quantitative analysis can be done with regard to CT perfusion imaging, which is able to evaluate the growth and early recrudescence of tumor.
