Abstract

The corrosion behavior of N80 steel /S31803 stainless steel galvanic couple in CO_2-containing corrosive environment at high temperature and high pressure was studied using weight loss method.Thus-the effects of temperature, pressure, and area ratio on the galvanic corrosion of the carbon steel/stainless steel galvanic couple were investigated. Results indicated that the anode of the couple(N80 steel)had a maximum corrosion rate at a certain elevated temperature under normal pressure. The logarithmic value of the corrosion rate linearly corresponded to that of the area ratio.Besides, the N80 steel as the anode of the galvanic couple showed a maximum corrosion rate and a minimum one as well at certain elevated temperatures under a CO_2 partial pressure of 2.5 MPa,while the corrosion rale of the N80 steel at different temperatures increased with increasing area ratio.
