Abstract
Problems of difficult regeneration and decline of productivity due to continuous plantation exist in Casuarina equisetifolia shelfer-forest. Studies were carried out by using the water extract from Casuarina equisetifolia root, fresh branch, litter branch and surface soil to treat its seedlings. The results showed that the water extract from Casuarina equisetifolia inhibited the growth of the seedlings, and the inhibition strengthened with the increase of the concentration of the extract. The inhibition order of the same concentration extract of different organs was root>fresh branch>litter branch>surface soil. The above indicated that one of the important reasons for difficult regeneration is that Casuarina equisetifolia secretes allelopathic substance to inhibit its growth.
