Image Scaling Based on Ferguson Surface Interpolation

Abstract

Image scaling is often encountered in dealing with digital image, which can be implemented by image inter-polation. Among the generally used interpolation method, the nearest point interpolation and bilinear interpolation cannot obtain 1 continuity, so, they are not satisfied in some cases. The bicubic spline interpolation method can obtain 2continuity, therefore, it can get good quality of image, however, its computing speed is slower. In this paper a new methodis presented, in which Ferguson surface interpolation is used to image scaling. It can obtain 1 continuity, in this sense itis better than the nearest point interpolation and bilinear interpolation, meanwhile the computing speed is more quicklythan that of bicubic spline interpolation.
