Abstract

In order to provide scientific basis for well applying vermicompost in the establishment of turfgrass, the effects of incorporating vermicompost into soil in proportions of 0%,20%,40%,60%,80%,100%(V/V)on the seed germination and early development of Lolium perenne ‘Esquire'and Agrostis stoloniferal‘Puter'were investigated. The results showed that under the 20% proportion of vermicompost treatment, both the germination and germination energy of Lolium perenne arrived the highest value, which were22.50% and 27.50% significantly higher than the control,respectively(P0.05).However,the different treatments did not affect the numbers of leaves and aboveground dry weight of Lolium perenne. To Agrostis stoloniferal, when the proportion of vermicomposr was 20%,the mean germination time was the shortest, and at the 60% proportion, the numbers of leaves 3.01 per plant were significantly higher than the control, the aboveground dry weight was significantly larger by 0.42 mg per plant than the control. So during the germination and early development of Lolium perenne, the suitable proportion of vermicompost was 20%.To Agrostis stoloniferal, the proper proportion was 20% during germination, and then turned to 60%in its early development. Therefore, different turfgrass and growth stages should be added the suitable proportion ofvermicompost.
