Abstract
There are a few seedlings around the adult mother trees of Sabina chinensis L.In order to understand whether the plant tissue inhibit the seed germination and seedlings growth,the allelopathic effect of aqueous extract of Sabina chinensis L.fruits is researched after evaluating the bio-activities of the aqueous extracts from the peels and seeds of Sabina chinensis L.on the seed germination and seedling growth of radish,Chinese cabbage and Sabina chinensis L.The results show that,when the concentration of aqueous extract from peels was 0.1 g/mL,the germination ratio,seedling shoot length and root length of radish and Chinese cabbage were markedly inhibited.The allelopathic inhibition was decreased with the decrease of aqueous extract concentration,when the aqueous extract concentration was decreased to 0.01 g/mL or 0.03 g/mL,the germination ratio,seedling shoot length and root length of radish were promoted,however,the seed germination and seedling growth of Chinese cabbage were still inhibited.The inhibition of aqueous extract from seeds to the seed germination and seedling growth of radish and Chinese cabbage was not so significant.The allelopathic effects of aqueous extracts from both peels and seeds on radish and Chinese cabbage were significant.Allelochemicals are mainly contained in the pericarp,and they were selective for the tested plants.The seeds of S.chinensis L.did not geminate in the test.TTC was used to assay the vitality of the seeds of S.chinensis L.,it was found that 34% seeds treated with the extract from peels were valid,and the cotyledons became green,37% seeds treated with the extract from seeds were valid,and the cotyledons became green.Seed germination rate of S.chinensis L. was relatively low,which was closely related to the quality of seeds.
