The application of early enteral nutrition after total gastrectomy

Objective To study the effect of early enteral nutrition after total gastrectomy.Methods 48 cases of postoperative patients of gastric cancer after totalgastrectomy were randomly divided into two groups,early enteral nutrition group(EEN group,n=24)and total par-enteral nutrition group(TPN group,n=24).The patients in EEN group were infused Enteral Nutritional Suspension(Nutricia Corp.)through jejunum at postoperative day 1 or day 2;The patients in TPN group received vein nutrition through the central vein.Each patient in the two groups received same calory,30kcal/kg·d,and same nitrogen,0.2 g/(kg·d).Results EEN group was earlier in the time of anus exhaust than TPN group(P0.01)and were hospitalized less than TPN group(p,0.05).The level of all the indicators in EEN group were lower than in TPN group at postoperative day 1 and day 10 and,between two groups,there was significant difference in transferrin(P0.05)and prealbumin(P0.01).Conclusion Compared with TPN,EEN can promote the recovery of bowel function,shorten hospital days and improve nutritional statu in gastric cancer surgical patients.
