Abstract
As an important part of pragmatic study,politeness is a pragmatic strategy.By probing into the relationship between politeness principle and cooperative principle,politeness and illocutionary force,the maxims of politeness principle,this paper aims to reveal the role politeness plays in language use in an effort to maintain and improve human relationship.
