Abstract
Based on the new condition of water and sediment and development of economy and ecological construction in the Yellow River Mouth, the study conception on fluvial processes and river regulation has been proposed. Aiming at the limitations of previous research, the interdisciplinary study and methods are adopted to develop a new study on the Yellow River Mouth. The main contents of the studies are as follows: the variational characteristics of water and sediment of the Yellow River Mouth, the mechanism of withering of the sink channel and its evolution reaction, the process of evolution response of the river_mouth bar and its effect, sediment flux, the turbidity maximum, the mechanism of the formation of density flow, coast silting forth and eating back as well as its mechanism of dynamic balance, an integral mathematical model of land and sea, the tendency of the River Mouth evolution and the lifetime of the sea flow path, and the strategy for the regulation of the River Mouth and the optimization of conservation under the new water and sediment conditions.
