Abstract

People's time use pattern and its effect on activity-travel behavior has become an important tool for policy analysis and impact studies of travel demand management strategies and transportation control measures.Based on the analysis of data drawn from the 2004 Shanghai Household Travel Survey, this paper develops and applies fractional logit modeling method to model commuters' time allocation among in-home activities, travel and out-of-home non-work activities. The estimated model is applied to analyze commuters' daily time allocation change under compressed work week. The results show that fractional logit model for time use pattern can effectively evaluate the travel demand management policy.
