Abstract

Based on the field monitoring of ground temperatures of different test sections along National Highway No.214,the ground temperature difference in superficial layer, the annual average temperature difference of embankment under concrete pavement and asphalt pavement, and the temperature influencing depth of the pavements on the embankment are analysed respectively, and numerical simulation is made according to the analytical result. The results indicate that there are remarkable seasonal differences of temperature in superficial layer between asphalt pavement and concrete pavement, the influencing depth of temperature by pavement types is within 8 m depth. The differences of the formation time of melt soil core under the same conditions, the maximum thawed depth changed with service time and height of embankment, and the difference and the development process of the maximum thawed depths between 2 kinds of pavement are studied by numerical analysis. The effective measurements could be proposed by the results to keep the thermal stabilities of highway embankment.
