Abstract
The antioxidant activities of Juglans regia L.were evaluated by the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) radical scavenging,[2,2′-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothizaoline-6-sulfonic acid] diammonium salt(ABTS) radical scavenging, and ferric reducing antioxidant power(FRAP) assay. The results were compared with that of positive controls PG,BHA and BHT.In the two extracts from J.regia L.,the ethyl acetate extract had higher activity of DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging(IC50=1.58 mg/L and IC50=1.69 mg/L respectively) than that of BHA(IC50=3.43 mg/L and IC50=1.72 mg/L) and BHT(IC50=18.79 mg/L and IC50=6.04 mg/L),lower than that of PG(IC50=0.86 mg/L and IC50=0.66 mg/L),the ethyl acetate extract exhibited the highest ferric reducing antioxidant power with FRAP value of(13212.99±55.35) μmol TE/g,higher than that of PG,BHA and BHT(the FRAP values were(10617.75±138.38) μmol TE/g,(7383.10±121.08) μmol TE/g,(1748.49±3.46) μmol TE/g,respectively).The n-butanol extract had a higher DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity with IC50 value of 4.94 mg/L and 1.90 mg/L than that of BHT,also showed higher ferric reducing antioxidant power with FRAP value of(2299.99±27.68) μmol TE/g than that of BHT.The results showed that the ethyl acetate and n-butanol extracts had higher antioxidant activities, and the ethyl acetate extract had a higher antioxidant activity than that of n-butanol extract.
