Abstract
The article elaborates contemporary socilogical theories and methods of urban community. Firstly, it discusses conception of community, development and characteristics of definition of community. Secondly, it expounds main sociological theories and methods of urban community since Chicago School. Of two most influential theories, one dimension is research on neighborhood relation in community and social network, which includesthe community abandonment, the community succeeded, the community liberated, other is study on community power which includs the social eliteand the pluralist theory of power.
