Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effect of rofecoxib during painless induced abortion. Methods: Eighty patients undergoing painless abortion were vandomly divided into two groups: PR and P. Group PR received rofecoxib 50mg before operation . Both were given propofol 2mg/kg to induce general anesthesia. Additional dosage of propofol were given 1/3~1/2 of induced dosage according to the condition during operation. Blood pressure, heart rate and SpO 2 were measured. The relaxation of cervix, the total dosage, the time of consciousness ,the cases receiving supplementary propofol and the movement were recorded. Pain intensity of lower abdomen was assessed. Results: There was no difference in blood pressure, heart rate, SpO 2, the relaxation of cervix, the total dosage, the time of consciousness and the cases receiving supplementary propofol between the two groups ( P 0.05). Significantly less lower abdominal pain was found in group PR by VAS at 5, 10, 15 minutes ( P 0.05) after operation. Conclusion: Rofecoxib could significantly relieve postoperative lower abdominal pain, although it didn' t enhance the anesthetic effect of the painless induced abortion with propofol.
