Research on Competitiveness and Complementarity of Bilateral Trade between Chile and China

Chile and China have been maintaining a good economic and trade relation since the establishment of diplomatic ties. After they signed China-Chile Free Trade Agreement in 2005,their economic relation had entered a new stage. Based on the bilateral trade data from 1992 to 2011,this article describes the status of the development on the bilateral trade between Chile and China. And it uses trade intensity index and export similarity index to analyze the competitiveness between them,uses the revealed comparative advantage index and export similarity index to analyze the complementarity between them. Finally,this paper presents a few suggestions to promote the development of bilateral trade.
