Vegetation Carrying Capacity of Land and Vegetation Restoration and Construction in the Loess Plateau Region

Abstract

Vegetation carrying capacity of land(VCCL) is a key index for rational utilization of soil water and vegetation resource in the Loess Plateau region.Based on the analysis on the relationship between the VCCL and the vegetation structure,it was thought that the density of the vegetation community was decided by VCCL,and the vegetation structure in this region was mostly affected by VCCL.The relationship including the between VCCL and vegetation restoration and conctruction was analyzed from three aspects principle of vegetation zone and community;the limit of soil arid layer and the production control of a vegetation community.It was put forward that VCCL should be firstly considered in vegetation restoration and construction in the Loess Plateau.VCCL based on vegetation restoration and construction is the only way to maintain ecological environment and sustainable development in Loess Plateau region.
