Abstract
This paper dealt with the color reaction of 1(2,6dibromo4nitrophenyl)3(4nitrophenyl)triazene (DBNPNPT) with cethyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB) and cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB).In NaOH medium, DBNPNPT reacts with quarternary ammonium cationic surfactant(CTMAB,CPB) to form purplered complex with the molar ratio of 1∶2.The molar absorptivities of CTMAB and CPB are 3.67×10\+4 and 4.11×10\+4 L·mol\+\{-1\}·cm\+\{-1\} by using dualwavelength spectrophotometry,Beer′s law is obeyed in the range of 0~13.85 mg/L for CTMAB, 0~16.09 mg/L for CPB.The method has been applied to the direct determination of cationic surfactant in water with satisfactory results.
