Abstract

Strength reduction FEM has received increasing attention in the stability analysis of slope. An analysis on slope stability through strength parameters reduction algorithm by finite elements is presented. When the system is instable, the numerical non-convergence occurs simultaneousy. The safety is then obtained by strength parameters algorithm. The results through various examples of the gradient are consistent with the results through simplified Bishop. This shows that strength reduction FEM for the analysis of slope stability is feasible.
