Abstract
A novel blind estimation algorithm based on the channel shortening is proposed for TH-PPM ultra-wide-band(UWB) sparse channel. The UWB channel is shortened firstly based on the received signal, thus the impact of the long channel on the channel estimation precision is reduced. Then, the sparse cluster property of UWB channel is exploited to avoid estimating the non-important zero taps.Simulation results demonstrate that the new algorithm has good estimation performance when the length of symbol is shorter than that of the channel.
