Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of dermglas-iodoful in vital pulp therapy. Methods Capping with dermglas-iodoful were performed in the teeth of dogs. The control group capped by calcium hydroxide. Later 4-12 weeks after operation- the dog were killed and their teeth were processed for histological evaluation. Dermglas-iodoful were used to cap the exposed pulp of teeth in fifty patients. Calcium hydroxide were used as control in another 50 patients. After 1-6-12-24 months- the success rate for pulp capping were assessed. Result Histological evaluation showed that the tested teeth and control teeth formed the reparative dentin brige in postoperation- but the thickniss of reparative dentin bridge in the dermglas-iodoful group was thicker than it in calcium hydroxide group. Clinical observation indicated that total effective rate of dermglas-iodoful group was 90% (P0.05). Conclusion Capping with dermglas-iodoful can induce reparative dentin formation. It is a hopeful pulp capping agent for clinical application.
