Abstract

Objective To discover new candidate vaccine antigen for schistosomiasis control by analysis of the squence structure of the cDNA of Schistosoma japonicum. Method The Z88 cDNA sequance acquired from the cDNA library of Schistosoma japonicum was analysed by bioinformatics method. Results The overall length of Z88 cDNA fragment was 1 303bp and coded 349 amino acid residues. It was homology to DnaJ-like protein of Drosophila melanogaster, Danio rerio, Homo sapiens and Mus musculus with identity of 38.44%, 35.60%, 35.95% and 35.04%. Secondary structure analysis showd that this protein had antigenicity. Conclusion The Z88 cDNA is the gene of Schistosoma japonicum DNAJ-like protein which would probably be the molecule participating in the function of polypeptide fold, assemble and transportation.
