Abstract
Based on the research achievements of breeding rice for super high yield for 20 years obtained by Rice Research Institute of Shenyang Agricultural University, the theories and methods for super high yield breeding of northern japonica rice were analyzed comprehensively in terms of basic theory, breeding technigue and development of new varieties. Physiological and genetic problems in relerant japonica super rice were also discussed. The authors hold that the important way to increase yield potential of the japonica rice in northern China is to develop the super rice.
