Abstract

Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching(GMPLS)is an inevitable result of MPLS extension to optical network.This paper describes the difference between GMPLS and MPLS control plane protocol,and introduces an Optical Burst Switching(OBS) network which uses GMPLS as a control plane.The proposed system is to replace the source and destination address with an optical label in the OBS Burst Control Packet(BCP),and uses GMPLS upon enhancing and extending the signaling,routing and link management in order to support OBS network well.
