Preoperative lymphoscintigraphy in sentinel lymph node biopsy of breast cancer

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the feasibility of preoperative lymphoscintigraphy and blue dye in the intraoperation in sentinel lymph node(SLN)biopsy of breast cancer.METHODS:Sixty-eight patients with breast carcinoma were examined with preoperative lymphoscintigraphy and blue dye in operation in sentinel lymph node biopsy,SLN in breast cancer was detected and dissected with the help of lymphoscintigraphy(99Tcm-sulfur colloid)and blue dye.Routine lymph node dissection was performed for all patients.SLN detected was wxamined by pathology.RESULTS:The detection rate was 94.1%(64/68)in lymphoscintigraphy and 91.2%(62/68)in blue dye.The sensitivity,and specificity of SLN biopsy were 90.6%(29/32)and 100.0%(32/32).The false-neoplasms rate was 9.4%(3/32).The accurate rate of SLN to predict regional lymph node metastasis was 96.8%(58/68).CONCLUSION:Preoperative lymphoscintigraphy combined with SLN biopsy is able to predict regional lymph node metastasis,and accurately advantage the position,amount and lymph trunk of SLN.
