Reflections on the set-up of environmental education for the non-environmental specialty students in the institutes of higher education

The Chinese environmental problem is very serious. Although the government has taken some measures for the protection of environment, that the public environmental consciousness of our country is incompatible to the social progress obstructs the effective making and implementation of the environmental policies and influences the implementation of the sustainable development strategy. Therefore improving the people's environmental consciousness is the fundamental approach to solve the environmental crisis. To carry out the environmental education in the institutes of higher education has unique advantages and plays an important role. It is the effective approach to improve the environmental consciousness of all the people. So it is necessary to set up public compulsory course of environmental education for the non-environmental specialty students. This paper analyses the factors of limiting the set-up of the environmental course and puts forward countermeasures.
