Phytoplankton Composition in Bohai Bay Tianjin Coastal Area in Summer From 2008to 2012

Abstract

Features of the phytoplankton composition were studied with the net-phytoplankton data in summer from 2008to 2012,totally 3phyla including 29genera and 59species of phytoplankton were commonly identified in the survey area,in which 76.3% were diatoms and 22.0% were dinoflagellates.The dominant species were Ceratium furca,Coscinodiscus granii,Nitzschia pungens,Coscinodiscus jonesianus,Skeletonema costatum,Coscinodiscus gigas,Chaetoceros knipowitschii,Eucampia zoodiacus and Chaetoceros curvisetus.The most dominant species were neritic species but a few were oceanic warm water or oceanic species.Phytoplankton cell abundance from 2008to 2012compared with 1983increased obviously and its horizontal distribution was determined by the diatom distribution pattern.The results of cluster and Nonmetric Multi-Dimensional Scaling analysis of phytoplankton species composition showed that the adjacent stations had more similar phytoplankton species and cell abundance distribution.Shannon-Wiener index of phytoplankton community ranged from 1.44to 2.69with an average value of 1.91,which was lower than the historic data in the same season.Features of the phytoplankton cell abundances and sistribution were closely related with chlorophyll a,temperature,salinity,COD and nutrition.
