Abstract
A formula of the precision of trigonometric leveling by total-station-based leveling is derived and the precisions on one station under various measuring conditions are calculated. It shows that the third leveling and the fourth leveling can be substituted by total-station-based leveling under certain conditions. Moreover, leveling using this method needn′t measure the height of the instrument and the target and the precision can be improved as well. The method can accelerate the measuring speed and improve the precision of leveling.
