Abstract
Objective:To improve the radical resection rate of pancreatic head cancer that involving the Portal Vein (PV) and Superior Mesenteric Vein (SMV).Methods:11 cases, including those with the involvement of PV/SMV,were performed extended pancreaticoduodenectomy.Results:8 of the 11 cases were performed partial resection of the wall of blood vessels. The other 3 cases got segment resection of the blood vessel. No embolization, intestinal necrosis or hepatic failure were found in the whole group. No death or recurrence were found in the short time follow up.Conclusion:It is feasible to perform with extended pancreaticoduodenectomy accompanied with involvement of PV/SMV for those with pancreatic head carcinoma.
